Drucilla's yoga journey began in 2002 with a Bikram Yoga class in New York. Having been active in competitive sports most of her life, Drucilla welcomed the rigorous challenge of Bikram Yoga into her exercise routine. Years of being an avid runner led Drucilla to a knee injury that required surgery. After the surgery, she decided to officially retire her running shoes and turn to yoga completely. Drucilla continued practicing Bikram Yoga and began exploring Power Yoga and Hot Yoga in many Charlotte studios.
The positive, invigorating effects of yoga embedded a desire for Drucilla to expand her knowledge of yoga and deepen her practice.
Drucilla completed her 200 Hour Power Yoga Teacher Training through Charlotte Yoga in June 2009 under the direction of Grace Morales and MyLinda Morales Hutchings. Drucilla has studied with Rolf Gates at his Yoga workshop and taken classes in New York, Charlotte, Atlanta, and Asheville.
Drucilla’s classes are light-hearted and challenging with a mix of yoga and fitness, while focusing on the movement of breath and balance with mind and body. Through warm-ups, spinal balancing, energetic vinyasas, and dynamic postures, Drucilla’s Power Yoga class is designed to build strength, flexibility, confidence, and endurance.
